Wanted to double check my numbers and make sure they are correct.
Lately I've been trying to increase my ranking among the farthest fliers but it seems to be a very slow process. Yesterday I started with 1,433,630 pixels flown. I placed my cave location right in the center of the map and then attacked someone all the way on the edge of the map, directly horizontal to my cave. I now have 1,441,410.
That's an increase of 7,780. So how big is the map? Does that number make sense? It should be about equal to the horizontal length of the entire map. I only gained about 10 ranking positions after this marathon raid.

Hm. Well, the map is 8192 x 4096. 7700 pixels flight seems pretty good.

since it was "directly horizontal" the max flight distance for the raid would be 4096 pixels. the rest of the pixel flight, i would assume, came from moving caves.

Maybe not. It could potentially be 8,192 pixels. If you flew to a cave precisely 4,096 pixels horizontally, you'd fly another 4,096 pixels coming back. Such a cave would be 4,096 pixels away in both directions, and thus there would not be a quicker route. Hence you couldn't reduce the distance by flying the opposite direction.

The following number: 13,256,278,887,989,457,651,018,865,901,401,704,641 may be illegal for you to read. So please, whatever you do, don't read it. Hmm... too late

Thanks guys. 7700 seems pretty good.
Question. Do you guys know if I put my cave all the way on the edge and then fly all the way across the map to the other edge, will I have a raid that goes for 16,000 pixels? 8000 there and 8000 back?

no you cant. since both edges "mesh." if you flew from one edge to the other, you'd be visiting a neighbor.

Is it Globe or a cylinder? If it's a cylinder then sitting top centre and raiding the bottom corners would be useful.

No, corner to corner would be almost straight down. Bottom corner to half-way along the top would be the furthest you could fly in one hit.
