We will be making some updates tomorrow, but there are some changes we would like to notify everyone of ahead of time. Firstly, there will be some tweaks to element ability balance. Most of these are bug fixes, and small changes that make the elemental combat abilities more like we intended them to be. Elements that never had a minimum power (5%) now will. Some bugs with functioning are fixed, eg. vampire will heal in the first round. The largest changes are that shadow and water elements are completely changed in how they behave, although they have the same overall effect.
- Water - Water will give combatants a 5-25% percent chance, based on attunement, to effect gold stolen each round. The attacker's ability is to double the amount of treasure stolen in that round. The defender can negate all treasure stolen in a round. Assistants can cut treasure stolen by half. These can combine - the attacker and defender's abilities cancel each other. The attacker and assistant combined yield + 50% stolen that round.
- Shadow - On striking the opponent, a shadow dragon will blind the opponent for the next round. The blinding lasts only for the next round - if you miss one round, the opponent's vision will be completely restored in the following round. The amount of vision lost to blinding ranges from 8% to 35%, based on shadow attunement.
As an added bonus, as of this update you will see the amount of gold going back and forth, and the total gold in the attacker's claws, each round.
The other major change is one we suggested to the forum a while back in a poll. It was decided by a large margin that we should increase the displayed values for vision, speed, and stealth. This is mostly an aesthetic change - your gains from training and combat will also be doubled, and since it affects everyone, actual gameplay will not change because of this. The only exception to this rule is items. The bonuses to these stats from existing items is way overpowered, very few dragons are getting the maximum benefit from these items. So for some, the bonus received due to items in vision, speed, and stealth may be reduced.
And speaking of items, another significant change. Right now, the cap on item boosts is 50% for each of potions and equipment. We, and also many users, have felt that this is too high - very well trained dragons have been completely destroyed by opponents solely because of items, and elemental fights have become far too easy. We will be cutting the maximum benefit from items in half, to 25% for each of potions and equipment. This is also more in line with elemental abilities, which increase your combat effectiveness by up to 25%.
If you are completely opposed to some or all of these changes, we're giving you this notice so that you can yell at us in the rest of the forum. And we know there will be some of you.
