1  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Cave Cap on: January 02, 2016, 12:19:01 pm
I've increased the size of the cave field in the database. You should hopefully be able to dig again. about LFG, we're all fine but busy with our normal jobs and family. LFG is being maintained, as you said, as a public service, since it still is somehow self sustaining (thank you everyone for contributing). Any new games I make will go under the LFG company umbrella but I have no immediate plans for the next one. I have some projects that I've put aside that I might come back to, including one or two dragon related games I believe I've mentioned before.

Hello, Var informed me that you had been looking for a response. I can look at the cave cap, maybe it's as simple as all those other stat caps we fixed.
3  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: PD2 only available via not via facebook on: December 16, 2014, 06:56:42 am
I've received a reply. They said the redirect out of facebook is happening for new users. I'm going to try debugging with the test app this morning and then get them to unblock it.
4  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: PD2 only available via not via facebook on: December 13, 2014, 04:53:23 pm
Technically it's in Facebook's court. They gave me no warning emails or any notice at all (which is weird because I've seen warnings from them before, albeit a long time ago). Their message to me about the "violation" they detected has next to no useful information in it. It only quoted the section of policy that they said the app broke. So I wrote back asking for further explanation. Also, the app is even blocked for me, so I have no way of investigating or fixing anything.
5  The Official Word / General / Gravicake is now available! on: November 22, 2014, 04:56:26 pm
Gravicake has been released on the Android market. It's free, so everyone with an Android device should go get it. Please share it with every single person you know. The success of this app is all about volume, specifically a large volume of people who might click the ads black teeth I made the ads show up at most every 30 seconds so if you die a lot it won't keep bugging you.

Matt said he had an issuextra where the ad sometimes didn't load and he had to close it but I haven't seen that issue yet. The graphical are also nicer than what I had earlier in the spring. It's also not quite as difficult as back then.
6  The Official Word / General / Finally, a new, actually released game! on: November 04, 2014, 10:01:43 pm
It's not Gravicake, though that will be coming along shortly. LiquidFyre has finally put something on a mobile app store. It's nothing special. In fact it's nothing original. But it does exist! It's our own variant on Breakout, and one of a million brick breaking games on the market.

It's called Bricktrix and it is a paid app, available right now only for Android (Google Play store). For various reasons, getting ad banners into the game was a bit of a technical challenge and so we decided to release a $0.99 version first and work on getting a free ad supported version out later. In addition to a free version, we will try to release it for other platforms too. Mostly, this is all for the experience of developing and releasing games on mobile devices. We have no illusions that we will become millionaires rehashing a 30 year old game.

We would still like everyone to try it out, if you can spare a dollar. The way the app store works is such that a quickly growing game can appear high in the rankings, increasing our chances of further installs. This is how PD1 grew in its earliest days, thanks to the Facebook app directory. In fact just by installing the game ourselves and getting a few friends to do so, we are currently #12 in top new paid arcade games, and #138 in all top new paid games. If for whatever reason the game is unbearable, there is a 2 hour window in which you can "return" the game to the app store for a refund.

Thanks for sticking with us! We hope to get more and better things out soon.  silver teeth
7  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Gold Stolen not adding right on: September 01, 2014, 09:55:03 pm
So, it turned out the problem was indeed the limit I mentioned. I thought we fixed that, maybe I'm thinking of some other stat though. So it's all fixed.
8  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Gold Stolen not adding right on: September 01, 2014, 08:26:02 am
I can check if you indeed have hit some limit, but I thought we increased that limit a while back and it's so high it would take decades to reach. Nothing has changed recently so it's hard to imagine what could cause this out of nowhere.

Could I get some dragon IDs? (Or Facebook IDs). I can never keep straight who is who on forum vs game vs real.
9  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Rollover Frustrations on: August 12, 2014, 12:05:30 am
Fangle, it would still only give you a day's worth. It only checks "if at least one midnight has elapsed since last login, set turns to 20". I think the problems are from the rollover timing out or erroring somehow, though it hasn't spit out any errors.

Varg, that's a good point, stuff like presence and hibernating would have to still be in rollover because otherwise they'd never get updated.
10  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Stealth "soft cap" bug. on: August 08, 2014, 04:42:22 pm
Hmph. Ok, well, then if the stealth you're gaining is unsatisfactory I'd recommend not spending the turns there. But the next update will essentially extend the growth curves out infinitely so it will be fixed.
11  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Rollover Frustrations on: August 08, 2014, 04:40:50 pm
No idea why it fails, but a fix is possible. The answer is to not rely on a script running every night. Instead, remember for each player when they last were given turns. When they log on, see if the stored date is before the current date. If so, give turns and update the stored date to today. So it will give you turns on demand, but it will have the appearance of working as it always has. Missed turns can be calculated on the fly in the same way, seeing how many days elapsed since you last got turns.
12  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Rollover Frustrations on: August 07, 2014, 08:18:41 pm
That was manually added. Sorry again.
13  Pet Dragons Two / IS A HACKING??? / Re: Stealth "soft cap" bug. on: August 07, 2014, 08:18:16 pm
Sorry about the delay.

Yes, effective stealth is still bugged with a cap it shouldn't have. The test app has the fix in place for it. IIRC, since effective stealth is calculated from regular stealth, and regular stealth isn't bugged / capped (please say so if it is!) then once the fix is released, it will correct your effective stealth automatically. So your turns into stealth aren't wasted, they just aren't having an effect yet.

The test app currently has a bug involving caps for other stats, giving the wrong amount when using turns at the high end (it's either giving half or double what it should, can't remember at the moment). I need to get to fixing that soon so I can get that stuff released. It's a big bunch of fixes.
14  The Official Word / Feedback / Re: GraviCake on: July 11, 2014, 09:07:50 pm
I've rewritten this game using a different game framework, the one we intend to use going forward for other mobile / non-facebook projects.

It's now available at

It's almost the same, but I've made a few adjustments in response to feedback. The appearance of rocks is now more consistent and not dependent on your speed. That is, going slow won't punish you by generating rocks closer together. There are also difficulty settings now.

* "Newbie" has no gravity at all, and fewer rocks.
* "Normal" turns on some gravity and puts the rock density up to normal.
* "Hard" has a bit more gravity than normal.
* "Expert" has double the rock density of hard.
* "Crazy" is like expert, except the rocks are affected by gravity as well, toward you and each other.

The fuel frequency hasn't been changed, so I'll probably look into playing with it some. Once this game is "presentable" outside of our group of users, I'll begin cleaning it up, maybe nicer graphics, put ad banners on the side, and start advertising it. I also hope to put a small amount of Facebook integration in, so you can post your scores and compete with friends.

We're also figuring out how to package these games into native mobile apps. Our first attempt (with a different game) was promising, nothing seemed broken. Right now though, Gravicake plays pretty poorly in a mobile browser, with low framerate and lag.
15  Everyone's a Game Designer / General / Re: unable to play petdragons 1 on: July 07, 2014, 12:29:30 pm
I'll do some browser testing tonight and try to figure it out.
