Tesserex is really sad no one is sharing awesome facts about him.  This is a photo of him sadly hugging the burrito he made two days ago.

That's a little harsh, don't you think?  A good stiff warning would have sufficed.

It clearly needed to pay the price for making you kind people wait for your turns Cheesy

Ok, thanks for reporting this.  We'll post again when this is resolved.

Wow, thanks for reporting this. We'll look into this issue and get it figured out.  Sorry for the inconvenience!  And sorry regarding the moles, I will discuss with Tesserex how we can make this right.

You guys are right, ipads and mobile devices are definitely popular.  The game is written using HTML5, so we will be able to support them; there are just some bugs to fix first.  We're working on that and also packaging the game up to go on the app store.  We'll let you know when it's ready to rock on your iPads Cheesy

On a more serious note. . . . while I agree 100% with Jack, you may not realize how your posts would affect a significant portion of your player base. In the span of one day, you've displayed more excitement in a new game than we've seen you show about PD2 since the very first days -- the game WE have been excited about for almost 5 years now. Have to love your enthusiasm, but maybe it was playing to the wrong audience. . .

Reading those posts feels kinda like how an adopted orphan feels when he learns that his adopted parents about to have a "real" child.

But I"m glad that the testers are enjoying gravicake.  Smiley I'll try it out myself soon, hopefully.  Smiley

Yes, we are like parents.  I understand the feeling you're describing, and that's not at all the feeling we want to give.  I want to assure that our intent here is simply to incite excitement that the family has grown.  And I want to say that all the children are "real" and very important to us.  We work on stuff a lot, and so very little of it ever actually makes it down into your hands.  So this is a little something to show for the effort, thought, and conversation we put into LFG every week that you folks don't get to see.  Please play it, and don't be afraid to enjoy it. Smiley

For what it's worth, I personally find games most addictive when they have a learning curve.  Start off pretty easy so you don't just give up and never bother trying again, then the increasing difficulty keeps me hooked.  Also it's important to make it easy for people to keep playing for a long time initially, with easy to gain fuel/lives/energy etc.

With any new game, if it seems impossible at the start I have no reason to keep at it because I'm not addicted yet, so it's very easy to just walk away.  Once I'm hooked I'll keep at something for as long as it takes to beat the damn thing though!

Thank you for the feedback.  This is certainly a style of player we need to be considerate of.  In the case of GraviCake, which of the following do you think would work best to help hook you?
1. Fewer asteroids at first
2. Many more fuel tanks at first
3. Lesser gravity pull at first

(Or maybe something I didn't list?)

Attacks should work now.  Please let us know if you run into any more issues.

No error messages, the confirm button just doesn't do anything.

Ok, thanks!  I'll let you know when we've got it straightened out.
13  Pet Dragons One / Oh no! A bug! / Re: Server move - issues encountered on: February 22, 2014, 12:38:28 pm
Ok, we've done as much as we can do to rectify the time issues in PD1 and 2.  If any of you feel the result is too unsatisfactory, talk to Tesserex in a PM about it.

We're looking into the attack issue now.  Are any of you seeing long error messages in the middle of the attack confirmation screen?

Hey Dark Lord,

Thanks for reporting this.  We're looking into it now.

Here are some tips I learned:

1. Use as little fuel as possible -- blip your thrusters minimally when you have to.
2. If you fly between two planets, their gravity will largely negate itself.
3. Use planets to steer you rather than your thrusters.

With some practice, you'll start to get a feel for just how much thrust it takes to negate the gravity pull of the planet.  You'll also get a feel for how much a planet will pull you at a given distance.  There's definitely a sweet spot for when it's easy to pass a planet and when it's going to pull you into itself too hard.
I can understand how this game might seem hard at first, but once you start pulling off some sweet planet passes it's exciting Cheesy
